Exams are over! How do you celebrate?

Yay! My university exams are finally over. I cannot believe it, there was a time there where it felt as if they would never finish. Although I have finished, I recently got a new job in Melbourne that I start tomorrow so no breaks for me, off to work I go. But it’s not all that bad, I’ll be working for a month then I’ll get my christmas break from work for about two weeks or so.

So I’ve got a few end of year parties coming up for uni, but I found myself wondering…If I didn’t have to goto work right now, what would I be doing for end of year celebrations? How would I be celebrating? Mmm…

  • Party all day and all night
  • Stay at home
  • Sit by the calendar and wait for the new semester!

However you celebrate it, let us know in the comments section. I would be interested on any huge parties happening in your area and what other students get up to this time of year.

Gumball 3000: Most amazing ‘illegal’ road race

“The 2006 rally was the most ambitious of any rally so far, starting London and finishing in Los Angeles just 8 days later, with the organizers flying all 120 cars from Europe to Asia and again from Asia to Europe in 3 Antonov An-124’s and an Iceland Air passenger Boeing 757.”

Amazing!

Five Tips for Smarter Playlists

smartlists.jpg

iTunes has a really great feature which allows you to ’smartly’ list your songs by genre, artist, rating (favor), etc into a seperate ’smart playlist’ which can then be syncronized with your iPod. This makes going through thousands of songs a breeze and makes sure you’re always listening to your most favorite songs, and not “We wish you a merry christmas” in July.

I came across a really great article which discusses just this topic, How to make your iTunes playlist ’smarter’ - Five Tips for Smarter Playlists by David Gagne. Its a great article and helped me get my music sorted out. I already had my music organized in some kind of fashion (I am kinda a control freak with my music collection) but this article made me realize the myriad of features in iTunes which I had totally forgotten about and were underutilized in my playlists.

Check out the article above or find it here, its a great read for any iTunes user.

President Bush - “I hear there’s rumors on the uh… Internets”

George.W.Bush has struck it again, this time with the comagulation (if that is even a word) of Internet to “Internets”. Don’t look now people…there’s rumors on the uh…Internets!!!

Oh how I love it!

Gnome dock with physics engine

Akamaru is a simple, but fun, physics engine prototype. It is amazing to use, and easy to install. One more reason to forget Windows Vista, embrace Open Source, and use Ubuntu or Fedora.

The dock at the moment kinda works just like the MacOSX dock at the bottom of the screen, and tests the functionality of the Akamaru physics engine nicely.

This looks really great, adds some nice eye candy to the Linux desktop.

Dr. Phill busts scammers

This is absolutely amazing. There have been ‘apparently’ a group of women posing as producers to the Dr. Phill show scamming money from their viewers. Check out the clip here, this is amazing.

Go Dr. Phill, Go!

What it takes to become a pro gamer

I recently caught an interesting clip on Youtube of Forbes talking to Johnathan “Fatality” Wendel who is a professional video gamer and discussing what it takes to get into the business. Its not all its cracked up to be, and much more harder of a job than people realize.

You can see more video clips of Johnathan Wendel at Youtube. This guy is really something.

Windows Vista system sounds

When Robert Fripp worked his magic on Windows Vista, everyone knew Vista is going to sound different and hopefully better. Now that Vista is literally peeking around the corner, not that it’s possible for a software to peek or even exist in the physical world, but if it were able to peek, what would it sound like?

This article is a great read and includes a really interesting video clip at some of the comparisons in the System Sounds between both Windows XP and Vista. I quite like Vista’s system sounds, a far greater improvement over Windows XP.

What Vista should have been, 3 years ago!

This is an official Microsoft press video demonstrating the concept behind (then) ‘Longhorn’ and what it would be like. This video was released in 2003 and Vista sure does look absolutely nothing like this.

Funny how things change in 3 years!

The Zune portable media player is shipping very soon and what better way to celebrate with Microsoft releasing a brand spanking new desktop theme for Windows XP!

The new Zune theme is a really nice looking theme. Make sure you go ahead and download it as it won’t be available for long.

Here’s a quick screenshot of the Zune Desktop theme in action:
